The Fifth International Symposium on Life-Cycle Civil Engineering (IALCCE 2016) was held in Delft, The Netherlands, on October 16-20, 2016 (http://www.ialcce2016.org). The proceedings of IALCCE 2016 have been published by CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group, as a set comprising a hardbound Book of extended abstracts and a USB card with 333 full papers, including the Fazlur R. Khan lecture, nine keynote lectures, and 323 technical contributions from 44 countries. The extended version of selected papers presented at the Symposium have been published in a Special Issue of the international peer-reviewed journal Structure and Infrastructure Engineering, Taylor & Francis.
